The IP67 rated model IH-153E Ember Detector employs Infra-red sensitive photoelectric sensors for the detection of glowing embers on applications such as COAL CONVEYORS. The unit has a narrow spectral sensitivity (3 to 5 um) making it impervious to visible light. The detector can reliably and rapidly detect weak Infra-Red radiation emissions from embers resulting from smouldering fragments of wood or coal. The sensitivity of the IH-153E, being designed and constructed specifically for the detection of glowing embers, is far superior to more "conventional" flame detectors. With Instrument air air purging at 3 to 7 bar used to keep the detector "eye" clean in polluted environments.
The IH-153E will detect 100 sq cms glowing ember at a distance of 1 to 3 metres in a 90 degree cone angle and straight line.
Connection of the IH-153E to any standard Fire Alarm Control Panel, annunciator, PLC, DCS is by way of the potential free NO/NC contacts provided. Operating Status indication of the detector is by LED's (flickering green = normal condition, static red = alarm).

The fladet IH-153E detector must be installed ensuring there is no obstruction in its "line of sight". Other IR radiation sources (sunlight or hot bodies) may adversely affect detector performance for conveyor applications, detector mounting should be on the hood or gantry of the conveyor structure with detector line of sight along (not across) the conveyor belt.
Note: Whilst the detector IS "Solar Blind", it should NOT be installed in locations where it is liable to direct high energy sunlight (6000C) exposure. The same considerations apply to IR / Ember detectors of any other manufacture!
For maximum sensitivity, the surface of the detector tube should be kept free from dirt or other contaminants at all times. Periodic testing of the detector - using controlled embers - should be carried out. An additional provision exists for connection to a pneumatic air purging system to keep the detector surface clean.
PRODUCT CONFORMS TO REQUIREMENTS OF NFPA72 AND IS-2189.
