History
Until recently, the design and functionality of one of the most important pieces of equipment associated with fire protection extinguishing systems (the control panel), has not been specified by a common standard.
This changed in 2003 with the publication of EN12094-1:2003, Fixed firefighting systems (Components for gas extinguishing systems, requirements and test methods for electrical automatic control and delay devices). This standard specifies the functionality and test methods for the control equipment thus enabling a competent body to issue certification.
Now, BS7273-1:2006 the Code of practice for the operation of fire protection measures (Electrical actuation of gaseous total flooding extinguishing systems), contains direct references to control and indicating equipment standard EN12094- 1:2003.
Kentec Electronics have been the leading supplier of extinguishant control panels for over 20 years. As market leaders in this field, we were the first to be able to offer a fully compliant, certified control panel as required by the Construction Products Directive, specified in BS7273-1:2006 and specified by the CEA4045 (Comité Européen des Assurances).
